In celebration of International Women's Day (Tuesday, March 8), as well as in sync with Women's History Month (which is the month of March), I have decided to work on a short-term project to celebrate women from all backgrounds and all ages.
The project came to me very last minute so I am rushing to prepare and plan out my project. To give you a sense of the project, I will be taking portraits of women everyday for the month of March and posting them on Instagram as well as on this blog. The portraits on Instagram will be accompanied by a quote about what it is to be a woman and the power of being a woman. Since I will also be posting every day on my blog, the portrait will be accompanied by a longer description of the person and who they are. Since the idea came to me too late, I need to play a bit of catch up. Therefore, I will post two people today and that will catch me up to tomorrow.
In addition to the portraits, I will be producing a video with the help of a classmate, Melissa Scott. The video will feature a variety of women talking about the power of being a woman and who they are as a women. It is about the uniqueness we all have as not only women but individuals. The video will be released on Tuesday, March 8.
Although International Women's Day is only one day, it's important to take the time to cherish and appreciate the women that are in your life every day.
